Historical Mansions - Design Through the Ages

Wow! These gorgeous historical mansions are a great example of how design evolves through the years. Homes are built and designed so much differently nowadays, yet hold the same purpose and meaning to the people and families who inhabit them.  Many people may still enjoy this same style of design and decor as what was beautiful a hundred years ago, while others may opt for a much more clean, sleek and minimalist surrounding. Whether your taste is traditional and over the top or contemporary and streamline...you can't help but admit these homes are beyond beautiful and it is unfortunate that they stand empty today. What do you all think?! Would you like to live in a home like the ones in this article?!?!

Skyline Design in Miami!

One of my most recent projects is for a condo building on Miami's scenic shoreline. I wanted a contemporary, edgy, design with a neutral black and white palette combined with punches of aqua blue to reflect the gorgeous waters of the Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay! Sleek lines, along with chrome and "blingy" finishes create a funky vibe, perfect for any city dweller. Are you ready for some fun in the sun?!

Deck of Love!

My boyfriend and I recently celebrated our 1 Year Anniversary, and the first thing that came to mind was of course a fun and cute DIY gift! I have been seeing books made from a deck of cards all over Pinterest and Stumbleupon and decided to try it out...but with my own twist! Because it was our 1 Year Anniversary...I decided to write a reason why I loved him on each card...one card for every week we've been together! It couldn't get much more perfect than that...52 cards in a deck for the 52 weeks in a year.  Below are some images on the book I created. Try it yourself for any special occasion! I would love to hear how it turns out!

Divine Design Details!

When designing, inspiration can come from all sorts of people, places, and things. This new wallcovering book, Shimmering Details by Candice Olson (here), was no different.  Her designs are a perfect mix of traditional motifs, but with an updated contemporary edge, brought in through colors and textures. And then of course, don't forget that shimmering detail that will help give your walls a unique glow throughout any space of your home!  XoXo

Cheeseburgers in Paradise!

FINALLY!!! After two veeerrrryyy long weeks my laptop is back from Geek Squad and is up and running just like new! ;)

As I'm sure you've noticed...I've also taken these last couple of weeks to completely re-vamp the
My Maison blog and its' URL address. What do you all think?! I would love to hear your feedback on the new look!

I decided for my first post back to share a new burger joint I came across one night while Jose and I were running around downtown Delray with hungry tummies! We decided to go to Burgerfi...a funky new restaurant right across the street from the beach.  I instantly loved its' simple, yet edgy and industrial interior design, along with its' fun lime green colors and the MOST AMAZING SODA FOUNTAIN EVER!!! I would definitely recommend it if you are in the area...fun atmosphere and yummy (yes, very fattening, but ooh soo yummy) food! :)

Fashion vs. Interior Design...

After being in New York during this last week’s Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, Fall 2012, I was inspired to take a look into just how different, or what turns out to be how similar, fashion and interior design really are!
If you take a look at many of the top trends that are currently invading the fashion runway you will see many of the same looks, colors, and patterns used in today’s most trendy interiors. They are similar on so many levels….from bright, almost neon, colors to fun and funky patterns. For example, 2012’s Pantone “Color of the Year” was declared Tango Tangerine and can be seen while flipping through the pages of Vogue or by taking a look at Elle Décor. From lamps and pants to rugs and shrugs and everywhere in between!!! ;) Color Blocking has also quickly become the newest craze. Whether it’s bold primary colors or fun and flirty colors, this trend can be implemented into almost every taste and style. If you are thinking of re-decorating your home, I encourage you to first take a look at one of your favorite outfits or fashion trends…You just never know what might inspire you!?!?!
